SAMSUNG HOST AT THE BRIDGE
Club sponsors Samsung lined a team up against some famous football names at Stamford Bridge this week.
The match saw Samsung employees displaying their talents against the great Peter Bonetti as well as former famous professionals Peter Beardsley, Matt Le Tissier, Paul Merson and Phil Babb.
As expected, the former players ran out 8-4 winners on the hallowed turf at Stamford Bridge and among them, sitting in the centre of midfield, was former Blues legend Gus Poyet, who last week predicted a Chelsea win in the FA Cup Final.
So we caught up with the FA Cup and Cup Winners' Cup hero to see what he thought about Saturday's final.
'I didn't expect the Everton goal,' exclaimed the Uruguayan, 'when you go to a final and go 1-0 down after 25 seconds it is quite difficult.
'But I was very pleased with the reaction of the Chelsea players. It is not about tactics, techniques or managers at that point, it is about the players and how strong you are.
'They didn't panic, they kept passing the ball and they were in possession most of the time until they found the chances to score. I thought it was great the way they played.'
A prolific goal-scoring midfielder himself throughout his career, one who scored twice in yesterday's game, Poyet can relate to Frank Lampard's talent more than most and enjoyed watching him net the winner on Saturday.
However, regardless of the former Chelsea man's talents, he considers Lampard on a different level to himself and admits you have to be extremely good to consistently score 20 goals a season in English football.
'You have to be special, but we know he is something special, we know he can really hurt you coming from behind and coming from deep, but at the same time he can score with his left foot.
'The kind of players like Frank Lampard and Didier Drogba, they are always there when you need them, on the big stage, in the big finals. So they are great to have in your side, no matter what.'
And with the recent appointment of Carlo Ancelotti at the reins of Chelsea, Poyet is thrilled about the Blues' prospects next season.
'Everybody is now calm about his English and looking forward to next season, he is a great manager who has been dealing with big stars in Italy for many years, so everything is looking good, it's very exciting.'
