Chelsea will play a pre-season match away to Reading on Saturday 1 August.

Kick-off at the Madejski Stadium will be at 3pm with ticket details yet to be announced.

It will be the first meeting of the teams since Reading's relegation to the Championship in 2008. The Berkshire side have yet to appoint a new manager following the resignation of Steve Coppell last month when the Royals missed out on promotion via the play-offs.

For Chelsea, the fixture in England will come shortly after a return from the United States where four matches are to be played.

The team are taking on Seattle Sounders in Seattle on Saturday 18 July and then competing in the 2009 World Football Challenge.
